The blossoming Sakura trees, along with the Sakura Afternoon Tea served at Serre Restaurant, create the ideal setting for celebrating the arrival of spring with an enchanting culinary experience.

Amsterdam, April 10, 2024Serre Restaurant at Hotel Okura Amsterdam unveils its renewed Sakura Afternoon Tea, offering an exquisite opportunity to embrace the blossoming spring season. Drawing inspiration from Japanese customs, where each season is venerated, the Sakura Afternoon Tea experience will be available from Thursday to Sunday, 13:30 to 16:00, at the esteemed Bib Gourmand award-winning restaurant, both indoors and on the scenic waterfront terrace.

East meets West within Hotel Okura Amsterdam. Thus, the Japanese-inspired Sakura Afternoon Tea kicks off with Cuvée Okura, a Dutch sparkling wine crafted by Hotel Okura Amsterdam’s sommeliers in collaboration with Wijndomein St. Martinus, showcasing pure craftsmanship.

For the Sakura Afternoon Tea, the Chef opted for a more traditional English Afternoon Tea approach, with a shift towards savory offerings. The experience begins with savory delicacies, now featuring scones as a permanent fixture on the menu, and culminates with artisanal pastries. The Sakura Afternoon Tea is served alongside tea-pairing, enhancing the flavours further.

Bram Postel, Chef de Cuisine at Serre Restaurant, and Executive Pastry Chef Iiro Heinila state: “Our Japanese heritage and the arrival of spring inspired us to create the Sakura Afternoon Tea. With such beautiful Sakura trees adorning our sunlit terrace, the name was an easy choice. With this Afternoon Tea, we pay tribute to spring. We look forward to welcoming guests and indulging them in this delightful culinary experience.”
