Best of Award of Excellence for the 9th successive year

Amsterdam, 29 June 2020 – Two-star restaurant Ciel Bleu, located on the 23rd floor of Hotel Okura Amsterdam, has been honoured for its outstanding wine programme in Wine Spectator’s 2020 Restaurant Awards. The restaurant is recognised among other winners from all over the globe as a top destination for wine lovers.

Wine Spectator began its programme to recognise the world’s best wine lists in 1981. There are three levels: the Award of Excellence, the Best of Award of Excellence and the Grand Award. Ciel Bleu Restaurant has won the Best of Award of Excellence for the 9th consecutive year. This award is a special recognition to restaurants that clearly exceed the requirements of the Award of Excellence. The wine lists of winners in this category display excellent breadth across multiple winegrowing regions and significant vertical depth of top producers, along with superior presentation. Typically offering 350 or more selections, these restaurants are destinations for serious wine lovers, showing a deep commitment to wine, both in the cellar and through their service team.

Ciel Bleu Restaurant, located on the 23rd floor of the Hotel Okura Amsterdam, was awarded its second Michelin star in 2007, under the leadership of chefs’ team Onno Kokmeijer and Arjan Speelman. The restaurant is affiliated with the Alliance Gastronomique and boasts no less than three SVH Masters: Master Host Pasquinel Kolk, Master Sommelier Noël Vanwittenbergh and Master Chef Onno Kokmeijer.
