Pioneering Role of Japanese Gastronomy Confirmed

Yamazato Restaurant is once again celebrating a significant milestone: its prestigious Michelin star has been reaffirmed for the coming year. This recognition by the Michelin Guide highlights the dedication to authentic Japanese cuisine that defines Yamazato. The restaurant holds a pioneering position in global gastronomy as the world’s first traditional Japanese Kaiseki restaurant to receive a Michelin star, which it first earned in 2002.

For more than half a century, Yamazato has been a beacon of Japanese culinary tradition in Amsterdam, introducing and firmly anchoring the refinement of Japanese dining culture in the city. The renewed Michelin star is not only a recognition of consistent quality, but also a celebration of Yamazato’s lasting influence and commitment to culinary perfection.

Under the inspired leadership of Executive Chef Masanori Tomikawa and Chef de Cuisine Tsukasa Hagimori, Yamazato continues to set the bar high. Executive Chef Tomikawa shared his delight:

“Retaining our Michelin star is a wonderful reward for the tireless passion and dedication of our entire team. The precision and respect for tradition in our cuisine, together with the warm Omotenashi of our service, all contribute to this recognition.”

Chef de Cuisine Hagimori added:

“It motivates us to continue honoring the essence of Japanese cuisine while also innovating, so that every guest enjoys an unforgettable experience.”

Yamazato Restaurant invites guests to experience authentic Japanese dining. Each dish from the traditional kaiseki menus is carefully prepared with fresh, seasonal Japanese ingredients and served with Omotenashi — heartfelt Japanese hospitality.
