Hotel Okura Amsterdam delights guests with exclusive festive-season patisserie

Amsterdam, November 28, 2024 – Hotel Okura Amsterdam welcomes the festive season with the launch of Pop-up Pastry – Festive Season, a special concept celebrating the artisanal pastry craftsmanship for which the hotel is renowned. Following the overwhelming success of the summer edition, this second Pop-up Pastry experience is entirely dedicated to the magic of the holidays.


Set in the hotel’s lobby and beautifully decorated with sparkling lights, the festive pop-up offers a refined selection of exclusive treats with a subtle Japanese touch. Pop-up Pastry – Festive Season is open daily from November 28 to December 24, presenting a collection of holiday-inspired creations including delicate pastries, macarons, madeleines, chocolate truffles, and matcha cookies. Each item is a delightful indulgence—crafted to be as beautiful as it is delicious. Paired with a card inspired by the Japanese Shinto tradition, these exclusive treats make a thoughtful and elegant gift for the holiday season.


“The Pop-up Pastry left our guests wanting more—and that’s the greatest compliment we could receive,” says Iiro Heinila, Executive Chef at Hotel Okura Amsterdam. “It inspired us to create this festive edition as a true highlight of the year. This end-of-year project is the icing on the cake, allowing us to express all our creativity and passion. Each item is carefully crafted and embodies omotenashi—the spirit of genuine Japanese hospitality.” explains Executive Chef Iiro Heinila

A Refined Japanese Touch

Highlights include the Matcha Tartelette, a delicate blend of pistachio and cranberry, and the Festive Choux filled with hazelnut praline. Guests can also enjoy the Okura Festive Tablet, crafted with Valrhona chocolate and seasonal spices, as well as macarons in distinctive flavors such as Japanese whisky and caramelized apple.

Custom-Made Festive Cakes

Especially for Christmas, the Santa Cake and Christmas Ornament Pastry are also available as cakes serving up to 10 guests, exclusively by pre-order. Orders can be placed until December 18, with collection available on December 23 or 24.
