OKURA'S SAKE WORKSHOP TAKES PARTICIPANTS

ON A FLAVOUR EXPLORATION

Hotel Okura Amsterdam introduces the Sake Workshop, an exclusive experience where participants can immerse themselves in the fascinating world of sake. Under the guidance of Sake Master Sommelier Ákos Turi, one of the two Sake Masters in the Netherlands, they will discover the subtle nuances and rich history of this Japanese rice wine. The workshop takes place every saturday and allows participants to explore a broad spectrum of flavours through an exclusive selection of premium sake labels, available only at Okura.

During the workshop, the sake is paired with the sweet and bitter notes of chocolate and the salty, rounded flavours of carefully selected fine cheeses. Participants will experience how these flavours enhance one another. Every detail of the workshop reflects the essence of omotenashi, heartfelt Japanese hospitality, ensuring a complete and immersive experience.

The workshop is led by Akos Turi, who has earned the prestigious Master Sake Sommelier Award. He shares his passion: “Sake is an incredibly versatile drink. Every year, I travel to Japan to deepen my knowledge, visit breweries, and uncover the stories behind sake. I am eager to share my passion for this remarkable craft, which has been recognized as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage.”

The Sake Workshop takes place every Saturday from 2:30 PM – 4:00 PM in the serene setting of Yamazato Restaurant, at a cost of €70 per person. Reservations can be made via the website.
