Serre's Summer Okonomiyaki turns SERRE TERRACE into a Japanese taste sensation
Serre Restaurant is proud to announce the launch of a unique summer culinary concept: Serre's Summer Okonomiyaki. From July 4th, Serre will transform into a vibrant hotspot offering Japanese taste sensations. Guests can enjoy a selection of refined Japanese savoury pancakes prepared on the grill plate on the terrace.
Okonomiyaki, literally translated as ‘grilled the way you want it’ (Okonomi = the way you want it, Yaki = grilled), is a versatile Japanese savoury pancake made with a variety of ingredients such as cabbage, meat, seafood, and vegetables. This much-loved Japanese dish is cooked on a hot plate, and traditionally finished with special sauces, Japanese mayonnaise, and dried seaweed flakes.
The menu has been created by Arjan Speelman, Executive Chef of the two-Michelin-starred restaurant Ciel Bleu, located on the 23rd floor of the hotel. The execution and daily preparation are overseen by Jos van der Noll, Chef de Cuisine at Serre, together with his dedicated team.
“I am always looking for new ways to surprise our guests with unique flavour experiences,” says Arjan Speelman. “Okonomiyaki provides a fantastic foundation for creativity and lends itself perfectly to live cooking and a flavourful experience. I thoroughly enjoyed developing the different variations for Serre’s Summer Okonomiyaki, combining the essence of this versatile Japanese dish with the quality our guests expect from Hotel Okura Amsterdam, at a price point appropriate for Serre.
The special Okonomiyaki menu will be available every Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, and will run at least until the end of August. The grill plate will remain on the terrace throughout the summer and is accessible to both indoor and outdoor guests, regardless of the weather.
