A unique career opportunity for chefs: training program with 2 months of training in Japan.

 Hotel Okura Amsterdam, an icon of Japanese hospitality and culinary excellence, announces a recruitment of chefs for the renowned Teppanyaki Restaurant Sazanka. With an extensive training program of 9 to 12 months, the chefs are immersed in the world of authentic Japanese teppanyaki. An important part of this career opportunity is an unforgettable two-month training in Japan. These appointments create a balance between cultures, while ensuring the quality and authenticity of the cuisine. 

The vacancies offer a unique opportunity for ambitious chefs to qualify themselves in teppanyaki cuisine and take their careers to the next level. Sazanka, a concept that can be found in Okura hotels worldwide, is known for its high quality, authentic preparation method and the rich Japanese culture that is reflected in every dish. The new chefs will follow this intensive training program under the guidance of Chef Onedera. In addition, they will go to Japan to learn the tricks of the trade from experienced Japanese teppanyaki chefs at Sazanka in Hotel Okura Kobe.

THE UNIQUE TRAINING PROGRAM

  • 9-12 months of intensive training led by Chef Onedera
  • 2 months of training in Japan at Sazanka, Hotel Okura Kobe
  • Learning from experienced Japanese teppanyaki chefs
  • Deepening of Japanese culture and hospitality

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

  • At least 2 years of work experience in the kitchen
  • Affinity with Japanese cuisine
  • Strong social and communication skills 


In addition, experience with teppanyaki, knowledge of Japanese culture and experience as a Chef de Partie is an advantage.
