Amsterdam, 15 October 2019 – Two-star restaurant Ciel Bleu, located on the 23rd floor of Hotel Okura Amsterdam, has been honored for its outstanding wine program in Wine Spectator’s 2019 Restaurant Awards. Noël Vanwittenbergh - Sommelier Ciel Bleu Restaurant

Wine Spectator began its program to recognize the world’s best wine lists in 1981. There are three levels: the Award of Excellence, the Best of Award of Excellence and the Grand Award. Ciel Bleu Restaurant has won the Best of Award of Excellence for the 8th consecutive year. This award is a special recognition to restaurants that clearly exceed the requirements of the Award of Excellence. The wine lists of winners in this category display excellent breadth across multiple winegrowing regions and significant vertical depth of top producers, along with superior presentation. Typically offering 350 or more selections, these restaurants are destinations for serious wine lovers, showing a deep commitment to wine, both in the cellar and through their service team.

It’s not this year’s first award for Ciel Bleu’s sommelier Noël Vanwittenbergh, who was also crowned Sommelier of the Year at the Dutch presentation of the Michelin Award 2019. Maître d’ Pasquinel Kolk: “Winning this award is another big compliment to Noël Vanwittenbergh and a reward for his efforts to compose an award winning wine list for Ciel Bleu year after year.”
