Duty Manager Food & Beverage

Hotel Okura Amsterdam is looking for an enthusiastic Duty Manager!
Are you looking for an interesting, challenging but mostly diverse management position in one of the Leading Hotels of the World? 

In this position your main purpose is to ensure the well-being of all guests during their time at the hotel, maintain a high level of host presence throughout and ensure the overall smooth running of the hotel at all time, according to our quality guidelines.  
You are responsible for the running of the hotel in the absence of senior management and to assist all departments in times of pressure. You deal with complaints and find suitable solutions to any problems that may arise. 

Furthermore you will be  welcoming VIP guests, checking rooms and other facilities according to our ‘Leading Hotels of the World’ standards. After your shift you describe all issues taken care of by you in the duty report to ensure a smooth handover to the management. 

Tasks and responsibilities

  • To assume responsibility for the running of the hotel in the absence of senior management
  • To liaise well with all departments, ensuring that communication and flow of the (following) day’s activity is clear and understood;
  • To assist all departments in times of pressure – where reasonably possible;
  • To deal with complaints quickly and efficiently and find suitable solutions to any problems that may arise;
  • To obtain feedback from guests and use this to improve service and top pass on such to the MT and other relevant HOD’s;
  • To monitor performance of our staff in line with our values, guidelines, standards etc.;
  • To communicate issues to colleagues in a constructive and clear manner (feedback);
  • To take overall personal pride in appearance and work performance;
  • To attend (occasionally host) morning meeting or departmental briefings, ensuring all relevant HOD’s are prepared for the activities ahead;
  • To complete a daily report including important notes (specific guest or staff requirements or complaints);
  • To complete a handover to HOD and MT after special issue has occurred;
  • Assist with or lead projects related to the job;
  • Supervise the trainee duty manager and guide him/her with school assignments.
  • Proactively interact with all guests;
  • To liaise with guests and ensure a strong host presence at all times, passing relevant information onto staff especially specific requirements or arrangements;
  • To ensure that the standards of service in all areas meet the required levels;
  • To ensure guests’ wishes are met if not exceeded so far as is reasonably possible;
  • To be aware of and promote all services offered in the Hotel;
  • Following up on comments made by guests after their stay, both direct and indirect.
  • To be fully aware of the Hotel’s Fire Safety procedures and Health and Safety regulations;
  • To coordinate actions during an emergency and have good knowledge of emergency procedures, member of the crisis team;
  • To complete daily inspection of all hotel facilities ensuring a checklist is completed;
  • To ensure that all areas are maintained to a high standard of cleanliness and maintenance;
  • To ensure that all appliances, fixtures and fittings are safe and work in accordance with the Health and Safety regulations, reporting any faults to the HOD involved.

Profile - Who are you?

Experience in an operational position in a Food and Beverage department 

You are flexible with regards to working days and hours • You are fulltime (38 hours per week) available • You are enthusiastic, willing to learn and a real team player • You have a guest oriented focus • You are representative • You have an eye for detail • You live in or around Amsterdam

Fluent in both Dutch and English (verbal and written) ▪ Speaking German, French and Spanish is an advantage
