Assistant Service Manager Yamazato Restaurant

We are looking for a fulltime Assistant Service Manager for our traditional Japanese Kaiseki Restaurant Yamazato. The Restaurant is awarded with a Michelin star and ranks amongst the top Japanese restaurants in Europe.

As Assistant Service Manager you are supporting the Service Manager and together with the other Assistant Service Manager you are responsible for managing the team in absence of the Service Manager. Within out hotel there is a big focus on training and development of the team to obtain constant improvement in quality and service, therefore you also play an active role in coaching and teaching the service staff team members.

Yamazato Restaurant is opened daily, except on Mondays, for lunch from 12:00 until 14:00 and for dinner from 18:00 until 21:30.

The team of our Yamazato Restaurant consists of approximately 30 colleagues, including 25 Japanese colleagues. The Yamazato kitchen team is comprised of 25 Japanese members. You work together with a Service Manager and an Assistant Service Manager. Your working times are flexible within a 38 hour week, during 5 days a week.

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Be an ambassador of the hotel and restaurant
  • Be on top of the daily operation by thorough knowledge of the restaurant, hotel, bookings, procedures and your team.
  • Play an active role in coaching and motivating the team
  • Due to your own extensive experience, you can help your team-members develop within Okura
  • Train new colleagues and teach them all about Japanese cuisine
  • Give instructions to supervisors and other employees
  • Make schedules, perform evaluations and administrative tasks
  • Coordinate and manage timing of service and event flow with back of the house and guests
  • Assist in creating loyal guests and handling requests, comments and complaints
  • Use your thorough knowledge of wines

Profile - Who are you?

Experience
You show similar work experience in luxury hotels and/or restaurants ▪ Preferably you have a few years of experience in a Japanese Restaurant and therefore sufficient knowledge of Japanese dishes and menu's

You have relevant job-related education ▪ You are flexible and have a guest minded attitude ▪ You employ demonstrable leading skills ▪ You are able to coach and motivate a team ▪ Working in a team gives you energy and you can put feedback from Management and team members well into practice ▪ Knowledge of the Japanese culture and customs is mandatory for this position

Language
You are fluent in English and Dutch, both orally and written ▪ The ability to speak Japanese is not a requirement, but is an advantage
