Hotel Okura Amsterdam celebrates 40th anniversary with culinary fête
Amsterdam – In September, Hotel Okura Amsterdam will be celebrating its 40th anniversary. One of several festivities to be organized is a very special dinner at Okura’s four restaurants. During the first week of September, guests will be able to enjoy all four of Okura’s restaurants in one night. Every restaurant will be preparing one course each, for which Okura’s sommeliers have selected matching wines. During this dinner, guests will get to experience French haute cuisine as well as both contemporary and traditional Japanese dishes.
Japanese specialty restaurant Yamazato received its star in 2002 and was the first traditional Japanese restaurant to be awarded one Michelin star in Europe. The French Ciel Bleu Restaurant has been the proud holder of two Michelin stars since 2007. The Teppanyaki Restaurant Sazanka and the recently opened Serre Restaurant complete this culinary evening.
The special ‘Dine Around’ menu will be served September 1-7, 2011 (except on Sunday, September 4). Reservations are required. The price per person is € 150, excluding a selection of matching wines. This wine selection is available optionally at € 85 including an aperitif at the Lobby Bar beforehand. Because of the circulation, this culinary event will start at 6.30 P.M. sharp. Reservations can be made through our Restaurant Reservations department (+31 20 6787 450).
About Hotel Okura Amsterdam
Hotel Okura Amsterdam is situated on the edge of the city centre, close to a large number of cultural landmarks. The hotel has 301 luxury rooms, including the most spacious (485 m2) and luxurious suite in the Benelux countries. Hotel Okura Amsterdam has no fewer than four restaurants, two of which have been awarded one or more Michelin stars. The ground floor features two Japanese restaurants: Teppanyaki Restaurant Sazanka, where dishes are prepared right before guests’ eyes, and the traditional Japanese Yamazato Restaurant. The idiosyncratic two-star French Ciel Bleu Restaurant on the 23rd floor of the hotel offers a panoramic view of the city. Moreover, the hotel has two bars, including the Twenty Third Bar, which has been named the Netherlands’ best cocktail bar, as well as an Executive Health Club. At the ‘Taste of Okura’ Culinary Center, guests can prepare the Okura’s chefs’ dishes themselves, while the sommeliers explain how to pair wine and sake with the culinary creations.
