Okura’s chefs support Holland Helps Japan Foundation with culinary benefit evening
Amsterdam – In cooperation with the Holland Helps Japan Foundation, the chefs of Hotel Okura Amsterdam will be organising a culinary benefit evening on Friday, April 8. For this event, the chefs from all of Okura’s kitchens will be working together in order to prepare a very special four-course menu. They will finish the dishes in the dining room itself, giving the guests in attendance a unique opportunity to watch our chefs at work. In the course of the evening, a raffle and an auction will be held. The auction will be led by a Christie’s auctioneer. The proceeds of the evening will go to the Holland Helps Japan Foundation. The donations will be used to supply medical and psycho-social aid, water, food and blankets to the hundreds of thousands of evacuees that are currently staying at reception centres, as well as for other purposes, including the construction of temporary shelters.
The Japanese Ambassador, Mr Koezuka, and the Mayors of Amsterdam, Amstelveen, Almere and Haarlemmermeer will be guests of honour during the evening, together with Mr Cees Breederveld, Secretary General of the Dutch Red Cross.
Christie’s auctioneer Sophie Bremers will be auctioning about a dozen pieces, donated by various well-respected companies and organisations that are sympathetic to the plight of Japan. The evening’s pièce de resistance is a luxury culinary trip for two persons to South Africa, including air travel, accommodation and dinners.
