Amsterdam, 4 April 2008 – Emmy Stoel (41) will again be working at Hotel Okura Amsterdam as of 15 April 2008, this time as Deputy General Manager. This is her return, as she was formerly employed by the hotel from 1991 to 2000.
Emmy Stoel studied at the Hoge Hotelschool [Hotel Management School] in Maastricht and began her career in 1989 at Hotel de Arendshoeve in Bergambacht, the Netherlands. After two years there she came to Hotel Okura Amsterdam, where she was Banquet Manager and later Banquet Manager & Capacity Manager. During this period Ms Stoel organised the world premiere of the Mitsubishi Carisma in the hotel and many other catered affairs for Japanese companies in the Netherlands. The opening of the Grand Ballroom was undoubtedly the highlight of her time at the Okura.
Subsequently Ms Stoel went to work at the Hilton Schiphol Amsterdam, developing herself further within this chain and gaining international experience in posts ranging from Director of Operations to Director of Business Development.
‘Returning to Okura Amsterdam is like coming home’, says Stoel. ‘When I look at all the positive changes that have taken place in the hotel in recent years, I can’t wait to again participate in the management of this hotel. Plans for the coming years also look very promising. I am delighted to be able to combine my operational and commercial experience in this new position.’
