Bridge over Amstel Canal (Scheldestraat) will be closed during construction works tunnel
Tunnel drill ‘Victoria’ is currently drilling the second tunnel tube under the Scheldestraat for the ‘Noord/Zuidlijn’ (the metro line from North to South Amsterdam). During the week of January 31st, they will reach the bridge over the Amstel Canal, between the Scheldestraat and the Ferdinand Bolstraat. During the drilling under the bridge, it will be closed for several days to motorized traffic and public transport.
Therefore, the bridge over the Amstel Canal will be closed temporarily to heavy traffic. By redirecting the traffic, the bridge is less charged and the streets will be free during drilling to be able to carry out continuous measurements. Depending on the progress of the drilling, the bridge will be closed for two or three days to motorized traffic and public transport. Pedestrians, cyclists and emergency services are allowed to cross the bridge.
Redirection motorized traffic
During the closure of the bridge, motorized traffic will be redirected, the new routes are marked with yellow signs. Take a look at
the map showing the detour routes. When travelling to the Okura, it is recommended to use the Stadionweg and the Van Hilligaertstraat. Travelling to the Europaboulevard/A10 from Okura, you are also redirected via the Van Hilligaertstraat, Stadionweg and Wielingenstraat.
Redirection tram 12 and 25
During the closure of the bridge, tram lines 12 and 25 are temporarily redirected. On tram line 12 the tram stops from the Waalstraat, Maasstraat, Scheldestraat and Cornelis Troostplein will temporarily be unavailable. On tram line 25 the tram stops from the Waalstraat, Maasstraat, Scheldestraat, Cornelis Troostplein, Ceintuurbaan and Tweede van der Helststraat will temporarily be unavailable.
