Ciel Bleu voted Most Hospitable Restaurant in the Netherlands 2014!
Ciel Bleu, Hotel Okura Amsterdam’s two-star restaurant, has been voted the Most hospitable Restaurant in the Netherlands for 2014 at this year’s Horecava hotel and catering event. Guido van Woerkom, director of the Dutch automobile and tourism association ANWB, handed Restaurant Hospitality Award and certificate to Pasquinel Kolk, the Ciel Bleu service manager.
The jury was full of praise in the summary of its report: “The reception is extremely professional. From the moment we entered, we were treated with the utmost care and received like honoured guests. The explanation of the dishes is exceptional! The sommelier was passionate about the wines. The service felt very natural, without appearing the least bit forced. Even leaving is exceptional, as the lift is opened for guests. This restaurant is a perfect example of a truly excellent experience and excellent teamwork”.
Initiated by Dutch hospitality guild
The award is a joint initiative of the Dutch hospitality guild (Gastvrijheidsgilde), the ANWB and restaurant guide IENS. The organisations want to use the award to create a platform to showcase and support excellence in hospitality in the Netherlands. The nominated restaurants serve as examples for their peers in the restaurant trade, but also the entire Dutch business community.
A total of 145 restaurants were nominated for the award on the basis of feedback on restaurant service from the IENS website. Winners were selected in two categories: restaurants with a menu price of up to € 50.00 and restaurants with a menu price of above € 50.00. The businesses with the best scores for service were then visited by professionals from the Gastvrijheidsgilde. These mystery guests assessed each business solely on their hospitality, from reservation through welcome, dining experience to departure.
A voting committee, which included representatives from the ANWB, IENS and the Gastvrijheidsgilde, then decided on a top-5 in each of the two categories on the basis of the mystery guest reports and information from IENS.
The top 5 in the category restaurants below € 50 comprised the following restaurants:
Herberg van Smallingerland in Rottevalle
Royal Mandarin in Hilversum
Mekar Sari in The Hague
Rhodos in Leiden
Het Jachthuis in Hoog Soeren.
Het Jachthuis was voted the number one restaurant in this category, followed by Herberg van Smallingerland at number 2 and Royal Mandarin at number 3.
The top 5 in the category restaurants above € 50 comprised the following restaurants:
Ciel Bleu (Hotel Okura) in Amsterdam
