The Okura team congratulates Noël Vanwittenbergh on his new title ‘Sommelier of the Year 2014’!
Amsterdam, 28 October 2013 – Okura Hotel Amsterdam is proud to announce that Ciel Bleu’s Noël Vanwittenbergh has been named ‘Sommelier of the Year 2014’. The title is awarded each year by the Dutch arm of GaultMillau, the renowned international restaurant guide that publishes an annual list of the best restaurants and hotels, as well as presenting various awards in a number of categories.
The Flemish-born sommelier has worked at the two-star Ciel Bleu restaurant at Hotel Okura Amsterdam since 2007. Nor is this the first time that Noël Vanwittenbergh has been recognised for his wine expertise. He previously won the GaultMillau Diamond award for the profession of sommelier and has been awarded the title SVH Wijnmeester (master of wine), the highest qualification a sommelier can achieve in the Netherlands. Ciel Bleu’s wine selection has also won numerous ‘Best of Award of Excellence’ titles from the Wine Spectator, a guide created to honour the best wines and wine lists in the world. The Okura team is extremely proud to have such a passionate vinologist in its midst and congratulates Noël on his new title!
Ciel Bleu was awarded 18 points in the GaultMillau 2014 guide, putting it firmly in the ‘premier league’ of Dutch restaurants.
