Hotel Okura Tokyo opened in 1962, aiming to become the best hotel in the world. To achieve this goal, the founders identified three principles: they sought to provide the best accommodation, the best cuisine and the best service. This came to be referred to as the Best ACS and was adopted as the core philosophy of the organisation that went on to become the Okura Hotels & Resorts group.

Baron Kishichiro Okura dreamt of creating the perfect hotel, where everyone would feel at home. The hotel he set up in 1958 was the fulfilment of his dream. A few years later, in 1962, Hotel Okura Tokyo was opened.
In the years that followed Baron Okura’s dream resulted in the establishment of a worldwide group of 24 top hotels under the name Okura Hotels & Resorts. All of these hotels continue to uphold the same basic principles of the Best ACS and seek to provide the best accommodation, the best cuisine and the best service.
Hotel Okura Amsterdam opened in 1971. It was the first European hotel in the Okura group. Thanks to the perfect combination of Western and Asian architecture and hospitality international guests have felt at home here for more than 35 years.
